Locus Restaurant & Lounge, Vancouver (Riley Park)
We’ve passed by Locus on many occasions travelling down Main Street looking for a bit to eat. But we never really had a urge to venture inside. The exterior is someone dark and the insides was rather gothic-esque. You know… with the dark atmosphere, some red lighting, random forest and branches inside… It wasn’t until our friend Tina suggest we have brunch there. Service was friendly and prompt. The plus side was that we sat next to the big window… plenty of natural sunlight. I think I may be somewhat depressed sitting insdie in the darkside. It’s not like I stepped out from Vampire Diaries.

There are plenty of daily brunch specials which all seemed to have ran out by 1pm. No more protein quiche and special omlette. I like how they offered organic local produces and smoothies. Fresh breads (cinnamon and white) are served with sugar butter and a spicy jalapeno.
Egg White Omelette 12: Sauteed mushrooms, wilted spinach, and goat cheese folded into free range egg whites. I healthy alternative where tastes aren’t discounted.

Huevos Rancheros 13: 2 creamy eggs (sunny side up my favorite), spicy black beans, jalapeno jack cheese and a house-made corn tortilla topped with salsa, sour cream, and guacamole. The crunchy tortilla on the bottom of the eggs added a nice texture. I love the southern mix.
Organic Lamb Burger 14: A mouth watery juicy lamp patty, seaoned perfectly and served on a multi-grain bun. Pistachio-mint pesto and brie with greens and roasted potatoes.

Locus was a plesant surprise and now we have another brunch place to add to our list. I could get used to this. Prices are fairly reasonable too.
