Good Friends Korean Restaurant, Coquitlam
Good Friends is a comfort Korean Restaurant located in Burquitlam. We often drive by it and see the green clover sign and wonder if it was good. Our friends told us that their portions are generous and prices were cheap. If you are looking for service, move along. When we arrived there was no one to be seen. One waitress came out after a long time and seated us and dissappeared again. We rang the bell, Dave walked to the kitchen to get her attention. Not a very good start. But we were running late already to move shop.
Banchan sides: All the usual suspects of kimchi, bean sprouts, kimchi cucumbers and fish cakes. Not the greatest fermented and marinated items I’ve had.
Corn soup which came with our Pork Culet rice: bland and watery. I could’ve been Campbell’s soup diluted heavily with water.
Port Cutlet Rice: The pork slab was big but it was tough and chewy. The gravy was salty and frankly not interesting. Served with sweet mash potatoe and side greens with thousand island dressing.
Tofu Soup Soondooboo: No comparions to House of Tofu Soup. Watery and lacking in flavour. There was fair portion was tofu, small mussles and some mushrooms.
I probably wouldn’t repeat this place. There are so many Korean restaurants in the Coquitlam, Tri-City area which offers reasonable prices with great flavours and service. Why subject yourself to sub-par food?
