Nice Cafe, Vancouver (Mount Pleasant)

A great greasy diner breakfast is what Nice Cafe is. This busy place dishing out breakies and morning Joes has survived many moons. It can probably be listed with one of the oldest Vancouver breakfast restaurants alongside Paul’s Omelettery or Bon’s. Iconic to Mount Pleasant area and walking distance to Foundations and Gene Cafe Coffee, Nice is nice. No fancy facade, no chandeliers but real hearty breakfast with tons of character. Sure the place maybe still living in the 70′s, but does it really matter when they make hash browns just right? I’m talking about the shredded, lightly golden goodness that is not cubed or wedged!
It’s peak hours are probably between 10am – 2pm. A great option if you are a late riser like me. Any earlier I may see illusions like the above shown.
Eggs Benedict 7.25

A medium poached egg sits on a bed of ham and english muffin and topped with hollandaise sauce. There isn’t a lot of sauce and I secretly wished there was more to drown my breakfast in. But I guess my arteries wouldn’t really appreciate that. The hash? Crispy and slight crunchy.

No doubt this is a super omelette when the portions are this big. Ham, mushrooms, cheese, peppers, onions the full works inside. Side toast and a mountain of more hash.

A minute steak cooked rather too well done. Lots of fried onions followed by some scrambled eggs and side toasts. The steak itself could use some more seasoning.
Apple Pie 2.95 (with added Cheddar 1.50?, personal preference I highly recommend you to try!)

What in the world is this? Why would you add cheddar cheese to an apple pie? Question to you is… Why would you NOT? The savory taste of cheddar cheese melting and smothering the sweet pie is simply awesome! The crust itself is pretty thin and isn’t soggy from the layers of fresh apples. The pie isn’t isn’t very sweet which is also an added bonus. The last thing you want is pre-fabricated apple sauce.
Fluffy Omelette: Spinach and Feta 6.75

A simple omelette with lots of greens and cheese. A great lighter option against all the carbs.
Their coffee is nothing fancy, no blue mountain but it is guaranteed fresh with free refills. It’s a fair place with fair prices. It’s nice to leave with some weight still left in your wallet…
