Location. Location. Location. It is true what they say… If you find the right place, you can have bad service, mediocre food and still have a license to print money. You can still attract all the tourists (and locals)…
Let’s take a patio day up at Whistler. It’s usually one of those days when you arrive late after checking into your hotel, or after a hitting the slopes that you are hit with hunger pains. You must quench your thirst and fill that empty stomach. La Bocca, located in a busy intersection in Whistler Village it seemed like the right choice with its flaming red umbrellas, charming patio (good for people watching) and their Mediterranean like setting insides.
Service was slow and we waiting a very long time before we received any water. As we studied the menu and decided on the Bocca’s Signature Burger $15 and a Chicken Sammy $14, we couldn’t help but wonder why everyone was holding their menu and trying to flag down their server. Why wasn’t anyone getting decent service? Despite warning signs we pressed on. We waited. We were hungry.
Bocca’s Signature Burger $15
100% angus beef patty with strip bacon, sautéed mushrooms, cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle and the whole shebang. A very basic burger with not a lot of seasoning.
Chicken Sandwich $14
Fraser Valley chicken breast with Swiss cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion and pickle with basil aioli. My soggy sammy was heavy with mayo and it felt very heavy.

Understand it is not Araxi, but there is no reason for such slow services. Please find yourself a better suited Patio seat as there are lots in Whistler Village.
